Windows XP: Renew IP address automatically.
Running Windows XP on a laptop. I used to be able to put my computer to sleep, go to a meeting room plug in and wake the computer and I would get connected to the network. Now for some reason I have to always repair the lan connection to get a new IP address. Is there a way to automatically do this?1 person needs an answerI do too

HiTry this.Uncheck the Network Card's Power Saving (I.e., do not let the card save power). There might be some variations on where the Power saving setting is.Here are few examples, YMMV, look around in your system.Example, http://www.ezlan.net/example/powersave.jpgExample, http://www.ezlan.net/Win7/power_sav_wireless..jpg Jack-MVP Windows Networking. Try waking the computer first and then plug in the network connection after the computer wakes up. The computer should then see the transition from no network to network and negotiate another IP address.HTH, JW
