Windows Will Not Detect My Network
I just re-installed Windows XP back onto my computer that previously had the Windows 7 RC on it. I couldn't figure out how to get my internet connected, so I searched online on our other computer. (This one) It said to turn off my computer and connect the Ethernet cable from my router to my PC. I did that, turned my computer back on, and still no internet. Just before when I still had Windows 7, I could connect just fine. Here is how I'm connected by the way: Comp. 2 Connected Wirelessly. Modem (DSL) ---- Router (SMC Networks) | | Comp. 1 (Connected by Ethernet Cable) So how can I get Windows XP to connect? I still need to update to SP3 from SP1. Also, when I click View all Connections or whatever, it shows nothing.1 person got this answerI do too

If you go to Network Connections and right-click on the connection that is plugged in (probably "Local Connection") can you choose "Repair"? Does your SMC router assign IP addresses or do you have to staticallly assign them?-B- http://www.officeforlawyers.com Author: The Lawyer's Guide to Microsoft Outlook

As if you don't have any network adapters installed? If you go to Start | run and type sysdm.cpl and press enter do you see Network Adapters on your list of hardware devices? Any identified? Any with yellow exclamation marks or such?Maybe you need to reinstall the drivers for them?-B- http://www.officeforlawyers.com Author: The Lawyer's Guide to Microsoft Outlook

I think I know the problem. I double click Ethernet Controller and it said that the Driver for this device is not installed. I clicked Reinstall... the Automatic and the Manual ones don't work because I cannot connect online. So, how can I install the driver? The support here is great. Thanks guys!
