Windows Vista remote access not working with Winows XP? HELP
So I have my tower PC in my room with Windows XP. And I have my new laptop, with Windows Vista. I am trying to connect remotely (remote desktop/access) from my laptop(vista) to my pc(xp). I am new with this remote connection aswell. It won't connect and I have no idea on what else to do. Also, in this screenshot below, it shows a box with a checkmark referring to "Allow users to connect remotely to this computer". Well that doesn't show up on my PC, it only shows the upper part where Remote Assitance is, it doesn't show any Remote Desktop info, could this be the problem? If so how do I fix it? http://www.microsoft.com/library/media/1033/windowsxp/images/using/mobility/getstarted/remotedesktop_03.jpg Can anyone here help me with this please? Edit: I just noticed that on my PC it is running Windows XP Home Edition and NOT Professional. Does this matter as well?

So how can I make this work then? I can always upgrade my XP to Vista, but I would rather not. And if I did up grade to vista, would I lose all my files?

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-vista/get/upgrade-your-pc-options.aspxthis gives you the upgrade paths options an in place upgrade will not have any effect on your existing files.
