Windows Vista end user home administrator problems, answers are too technical, no help easily available, hours and days wasted
While using computer management I end up looking under MUI (which I think has to do with user interface), I see that: Task Scheduler failed to start "\Microsoft\Windows\MUI\LPRemove" task for user "NT AUTHORITY\System". Additional Data: Error Value: 2147750692. while using the Event Properties - Event 101, Task Scheduler and I use the Event Log Online Help which then brings me to Microsoft Technet and Event ID ETC.,I am a end user whose ex found a way into my original Hotmail account and managed to basically take it over, having access to all my emails on the server (which he erased) my contacts, and he figured out a way to put his email address secretly inside a contact so he received everything from MSN messenger as well. The original study info I found is gone, when I google the info, links like the following: http://msdnrss.thecoderblogs.com/2007/09/03/web-testing-case-study-hotmail/ end up no where. The other thing which occured is while I was asleep after purchasing my new laptop, he used a flash drive and made himself an administrater, and he used Windows Easy Transfer Migration and copied my entire computer and then moved it to his new desktop and he even made some kind of smart card. (We were married when he did this, obviously we are not now)I found out over a year later that he had done this, when my laptop crashed continually and I started to see his unique email "name" coming up almost everywhere (his profile had been deleted). I have tons of screen prints and stuff to prove this occured, plus his admission, but neither divorce lawyer nor police will get involeved and Microsoft doesn't help either and I have tried many many times. It was not a simple case of using my recovery disks and starting over either because they are in storage (out of the country) and I have important info on my computer that I need as evidence. My hole point being is there seems to be way too much information avaiable for people to do things they shouldn't, and not near enough information or assistance for end users who are your primary users. I have just spent numerous hours trying to find an answer to a problem in my Task Scheduler that was done by my ex. and I still don't have an answer. He continues to dial in at will using remote assistance and remote desktop and no mater how much I try to disable, stop, remove etc., all his damage, he always gets back and now another night lost trying to find an answer to a appication error. I am using Windows Vista Premium and hoping someone knows a way of getting to a person at Microsoft who wants to and will help. I have wasted money having it "checked", he has made himself above my administrative permission so I can not remove things, the list goes on and on. I find Windows Migration to be a security risk, and I find the administrave tools, etc that give you help or bring you to online help way above the average end user at home who IS the Administrator. When I went to high school my computer class consisted of writing "IF = THEN" explainations on paper. I am sure there are youngsters now who have grown up with a computer and know much more. I think there are plenty of us who use computers daily (or pay for the ones our kids use) and more infomation needs to be available to the HOME Administrator. I am willing to bet I've posted this in a wrong location, but this is where my quest for help led me. Feel free to please answer me at (nperreault3 at hotmail dot com). I still haven't been able to get the original violated hotmail/msn email canceled, nor the programs he messed with straightened out and then he dials back in and does it again only now he even goes through my Windows Media Center as well other programs. (and I now keep a post it over my built in web cam - just in case?). And yes, I have changed my computer name, workgroup name, closed ports, etc., etc., and still no luck. I'm not holding out much hope that this will ever be resolved, but maybe someone a Microsoft will understand and surprise me with help, or possible some home administrator will be a bit more careful see what harm can be done. Thanks - and now I'm exhausted.

Wow! I'm not going to comment on the type of person that would do this to you, but I have had similar computer problems occasionally. What I do is to remove the hard drive from the computer and replace it with a new one and install an operating system on it. Once the computer is operational, install the old drive into a USB portable drive enclosure. Once you connect the USB drive to the computer, you should be able to access it. This has worked for me up to and including XP Pro, but I haven't tried it on Vista or Win 7. Dave Regn daveregn6845@gmail.com

Thanks for your info Dave - for some reason I have problems with back up and copying things on disk (although again, I think I can thank my ex for this, he left my back up and "volume shadow" empty. There's just way to much technology to keep up with, and I'm old enough to still feel "nervous" when I have to do something on my system I don't fully understand. Thanks to my ex's behaviour we've lost our home and my down payment on it, my car, the money he owes my family to get another car - which he "tricked" me out of, the last straw was stealing our dogs 6 months ago. I'm trying to get through this divorce with a legal aid lawyer, and all the stress makes me to nervous to mess with too much just yet.I'm hoping my brother can spare me a few moments over the holidays to help straighten stuff out. I will show him what your wrote. I appreciate your help. It's probably not that difficult, especially considering the stuff I am finding and researching that was put IN to begin with.I am just amazed that a year later this is still happening and I'm still finding his trail. And I'm so stressed - I don't want to mess anything up.Here's looking forward to the end of chain! And the unfortunate effects of alcohol etc., on some people. You just never know.Take care
