Windows Vista Update Problem - Error 8007000D - WSUS in Workgroup Environment
We also get the Code 8007000D error on Windows Vista Ultimate RTM. (Three workstations)The diferrences from other posts are: We are using WSUS running from Windows Server 2003 in a workgroup environment and not a domain. We are usinf Windows Vista Ultimate RTM Build 6000 (not any of the Betas or RCs). The updates were working OK till we applied the latest updates for Windows Server 2003.These were:KB923689 - MS06-078: Vulnerability in Windows Media Format could allow remote code execution.KB911897 - Files are corrupted on a Windows Server 2003-based computer when you try to use the local UNC path to copy the files.KB925454 - MS06-072: Cumulative security update for Internet Explorer.KB923694 - MS06-076: Cumulative security update for Outlook Express.I have also seen various posts on the same error code for Windows Media Player. I am wondering does the error code mean the same in both scenarious? - I.e.: WSUS and Media Player? Finally I am guessing that either KB923689 (MS06-078: Vulnerability in Windows Media Format could allow remote code execution) or KB911897 (Files are corrupted on a Windows Server 2003-based computer when you try to use the local UNC path to copy the files) is the culprit. - But I just don't know. Any one with a solution?

We are having the same problem but in a domain environment. It's only happening on Windows Vista RTM machines.

I used the reg hack, supra, and it worked for a while. Now, inexplicably, the same error has returned. I hope Vista support gets a lot better...

I think I'm having the same problem. - Target computer is Vista Ultimate (RTM), installed by using a MSDN DVD and has not been activated. - We are using WSUS SP1 running on a W2K Server. - A target computer that is W2K, XP32bit/64bit, or SV200332bit/64bit/Itanium can be updated in the same environment. - Vista machine is in a Workgroup (not attended in a domain) I can't make a call to MS free support in U.S. since I live in Japan, and can't use MS free support in Japan either because it's MSDN version (no incidents left). For anyone who has found a solution, could you please write the solution here?
