Windows Vista Security Guide input
I've downloaded and been reading through the Windows Vista Security Guide. Great piece of work. I appreciate that it's created to make our lives easier in deploying and securing Vista. I've noticed it requires the installation to Vista which for us is no problem. We've got a problem when we try to run the Group Policy Management Console (gpmc.msc) - from what I can tell, the adminpak / Win2003 tools won't install on Vista yet. I would love to dive in and start working with the Windows Vista Security Guide however it appears we'll need to wait for the Admin tools to appear for Vista. Am I missing something here?

Thanks for the response, however, is there any idea when we'll see full support for gpmc.msc and / or the Win2003 server support tools on Vista? (adminpak.msi)

In fact, I can say that we might not find support for Windows Server 2003 tools in Windows Vista (any edition) as Windows Vista was released for desktop computers, laptops, Tablet PCs (this one I think that Vista was designed for as it's Uncle Bill Gates's favorite's computer ). You might see these tools with thier enhanced builds in Windows Longhorn Server 2007. Good luck

This doesn't make much sense when you consider that the tools are used on XP Pro by many an admin. The point of the tools is to "administer" your Windows 2003 domain- one shouldn't have to install a Windows 2003 server in their office to administer thier domain. I'm sure Microsoft is working on a version for Vista, they just don't appear to want to say when. Search the web for adminpak.msi, Vista, Admin tools and you will find a slew of hacks to get the current set of tools to run on Vista. Unfortunately they don't appear to work 100% in my case.
