Windows Vista Home Networking
We're having trouble setting up the networking on Vista Home.
We're both running Vista Home, using ZoneAlarm, both are able to connect to the Internet, and view each other's Public folder.
But we cannot view our Shared folders, even though we set all permissions to Allow.
Tried un/re-installing everything, re-setting up etc. Tired of banging my head against the wall with this. I'm willing to try anything!
TIA

Hi,
Thank you for your post.
Please perform the following steps to confirm if you can access the share folder on the Windows Vista machines via UNC path directly:
1. Temporarily uninstall the third party firewall and disable Windows Firewall on both machines in order to narrow down the issue
2. Log onto one Windows Vista machine (we call it A), and create a common share folder (we name it Share)
3. Log onto the other Windows Vista machine (we call it B),) and click Start
4. In the Start Search box, type: \\<IPaddressofA>\Share
If it successes, you will see the folder Share, it means B can access the share folder on A. If not, please capture the screenshot for further research if there is any error message.
Additionally, Ive included some links for the articles about file sharing in Windows Vista for your reference:
