Windows Vista 64-bit Domain Name Server
I just bought a laptop from the pawn shop and tried connecting to the internet, and received a message: This problem can be caused by a variety of issues, including: Internet connectivity has been lost The website is temporarily unavailable The Domain Name Server (DNS) is not reachable. The Domain Name Server (DNS) does not have a listing for the website's domain. There might be a typing error in the address If this is an HTTPS (secure) address, click Tools, click Internet Options, click Advanced, and check to be sure the SSL and TLS protocols are enabled under the security section I diagnosed for connection problems and nothing came up; I looked up the ipconfig.txt file and found nothing different from my other laptop other than a few changes in the link-local ipv6 address. i opened up the nslookup in the command prompt and it showed: C:\Users\Reppdogg>nslookup Default Server: Unknown Address: 192.168.1.1 on my other laptop that the internet works it says: Default Server: Comtrend.Home Address 192.168.1.1 any suggestions on how i can fix this?

· This issue can occur by incorrect DNS settings. · Please check the route to see if the DNS server IP addresses are correctly listed. Some routers use "Advanced DNS" which then make the home LAN PC all use the router's IP address as the DNS server. · You may also take the following steps to have a try: 1. Click "Start", input "NCPA.CPL" (without quotation marks) and press Enter. 2. Right click on the connection that you use for the local connection, and then click "Properties". 3. Click to select "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)", and then click "Properties". 4. In the Internet Protocol window, let's change the "Preferred DNS server" to 208.67.222.222 5. Click 'OK' twice to complete the modification. If the issue persists, please repeat the steps and change the "Preferred DNS server" to 208.67.220.220. If the NIC or PPPoE connection has been already set to obtain DNS address automatically, you have to contact the ISP to check DNS Server settings. Sabrina TechNet Community Support
