Windows Updates

Hello,

          I am using Sony Vaio Laptop with default OS Windows 8. I upgraded to Windows 8.1 easily few months back. I recently formatted my lap and I again installed Windows 8 which was available default in Lap. After installing windows 8 I tried to upgrade it to Windows 8.1 again . . . But it said First install the windows updates, then you can continue installing Windows 8.1

             I opened Windows updates and checked for updates; there were about 108 available updates. I casually downloaded and installed them where final two of them failed !! It asked to restart to finish installing updates. When the lap re-started, It said 98% of Windows Updates were configured. After few minutes it said "Failure in configuring updates Reverting back changes" Almost it continued for about 3 - 4 hours and still continuing I Reset the PC with recovery process again I installed Windows 8 and the same process installing 106 updates, where last two got failed again it said "Failure in configuring updates Reverting back changes" again it is continuing for hours.

            Can you help me get out of this loop and a way to upgrade to Windows 8.1

Thanks in advance

With regards,

Prasad

Hi,

We might take a look at the following KB article for troubleshooting first:

"Failure configuring Windows updates. Reverting changes. Do not turn off your computer" error when you try to install Windows updates

1. Make sure there is no moveable Media connected with your computer, that might cause problems when starting Windows;

2. Run Windows update troubleshooter;

3. Install updates in a clean boot state;

Detailed information, please check with the KB above.
