Hello,I just installed the Windows 7 RC. In the betaI could drag the Windows Update link from the All Programs menu under the start menu to the taskbar and pin it there. I have tried this in the RC, and I am unable to do it. It has a red circle with a line through it. Why does it not allow me to do this now, did they take out this ability, or amI doing it wrong.Thanks in advance.

I can confirm this behaviour. I can drag the Windows Update shortcut to the desktop regardless of mouse keys used it only gives the option to create a shortcut (unlike copy here, move here) But I am unable to move/copy it on to the Superbar either from the start menu directly or from a copy I create on the desktop. I also receive the no entry sign on the Superbar. Asrock K8NF6P, AMD64 3200+, 1.5GB RAM, Palit Geforce 8400GS 256MB, 500GB Maxtor SataII, Asus 1814BLT optical

"setup.exe" is such an application in that when you right-click on it,the pin-to option is missing.Coincidentally, computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileAssociationhas a string value "AddRemoveApps" which containssetup.exe, and wuapp.exe, which is windowsupdate.Irefuse to modify registry settings but if it bugged me so much I lost reason, I would delete part of the string (or some other, similar setting)to see if it helped

Ifound that because I got rid of the shortcut arrows on my desktop icons by editing "IsShortcut" in the registry, I could no longer pin items to the taskbar. The Pin to Taskbar would not appear when right clicking nor could I drag items to the taskbar. If you have deleted the "IsShortcut" string, you can put it back by going to:HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\lnkfileRight Click and select New, String Value and name it IsShortcutI hope this helps!After you've pinned what you want, you can again edit the "IsShortcut" to get rid of those unsightly arrows.

Hi,I can confirm this behavior. And I have also noticed that you cannot pin the "run" command to the taskbar, which I liked to do when I was using the Vista OS. I think that we should be able to pin any programs that we want to the taskbar. I wonder why these were left off by design.Thanks
