Windows Update taking forever to configure
I just bought a new Sony Vaio laptop with Windows 7. I did the initial start up and then immediately went to Windows Update. I downloaded 11 updates and then it told me to restart my computer, so I did. On the restart it says "Preparing to configure Windows - Do not turn off your computer". Well it has been saying that for 30 minutes now. Does it usually take this long? Or what do you recommend that I do.

Hi,As there were 11 updates to be done, it might have taken long time to install the updates on the computer, it also depends on the file size of the update that had to be downloaded on the computer.According to the feedback of other customers, it's a matter of waiting indeed. Some wait 4 hours and some even a whole night. What is the situation now? Are they installed successfully? If not, have you turned off the PC by cutting off the power? Did you receive any error or crash? If a cold restart was performed and the issue persists, I suggest system restore. If system restore does not help, clear the window update temp folder and try update again.Clean up Windows Update temporary folder=============================1.
