Windows Update not allowing me to change or update w/o Admin privileges (yet I am logged in as Admin)
I am on a laptop running Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit w/ Norton Internet Security I cannot change my setting or get updates in "Windows Update" in control panel. I have a message that says "Some setting are managed by your system administrator" I am logged in as the Administrator, as I am the only one on this computer. Laptop is wireless to a router. There is a desktop set up with WHS 2003 and is wired to the router. I am on a workgroup w/ no group policy settings. In "services" the updates are "enabled" and set to "auto(delayed)" When I turn off Norton - no change. How do I fix this issue so I can schedule updates from this laptop?

"Some setting are managed by your system administrator" means that some setting are managed through the group policy. Was your computer ever part of domain. Check your local policy and see if any settings are setup via Local policy. (Under Computer Configuration, expand Administrative Templates, expand Windows Components, and then expand Windows Update.) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/328010?wa=wsignin1.0#method3

See if this can help you but backup the files before you do anything. User at your own risk i didn't test it if it works. http://w3.woodsnetworks.com/index.php/2011/10/removereset-local-group-policy/
