Windows Update failed after Uninstalling Sharepoint 2010 Foundation
Hi, I have a problem with my Windows Update which failed. I noticed it happened after I have uninstall my Sharepoint 2010 Foundation and all its necessary components from my Win 7, Home Premium. Attached is the screenshot of the problem. I couldn't recover to the time before the uninstallation hence there's nothing I can do to unroll it back to the initial state without the updates problem. Any help is really appreciated.

1.Look into WindowsUpdate.log for origin of troubles. 2. Try to return to previous restore point 3. Run MS readiness tool. Regards Milos

I have exactly the same 8 updates failed on 3 computers. None are linked to Sharepoint. All Win7Pro. Do you run Vipre Antivirus? Tha is the only common thing among my 3 computers.

A. Be more careful. If I write WindowsUpdate.log there is no space between Windows and update. B. The fastest way to WindowsUpdate.log is from Start -> Search Programs and files. Alternatively use Windows Explorer where there is search tool in upper right corner. C. Here is article from Microsoft Knowledge Base on Windows Readiness Tool http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821 D. This forum is iintended for IT professionals. For general public there is better platform in answers.microsoft.com Regards Milos

So I installed and run the Windows Readiness Tool. Still the Windows Update couldn't be installed. I have McAfee antivirus running, is that the problem? I thought Sharepoint 2010 is the culprit but until now I still can't update my Genuine Windows. Sigh, this is frustrating.

Hi, I would suggest you to disable all the third party security programs such as McAfee and boot in Clean Boot and try the update. Also, more error codes is appreciated. If the issue persists, please upload the WindowsUpdate.log to SkyDrive via:http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itproui/thread/4fc10639-02db-4665-993a-08d865088d65Tracy Cai TechNet Community Support
