Windows Update error after upgrading to SP1 (maybe a bug? )
Dear all, I run af fully legit OEM-copy of Windows 7 Home Premium at my own build pc, i can't pass the 80070002 error on Windows Update. So i can't update my Windows & Microsoft products anymore. I thought myself it was caused because of a virus or malware. It just happend to be not that easy. Here are the things i've tried: Full System Scan with G-Data Antivirus 2011 (blank) Full System scan with Malwarebyts Anti-Malware PRO (blank) Full System scan with MS Security Essentials (blank) Full System scan with RootkitBuster from TrendMicro (blank) Ran a scan from HijackThis; but this came up with no intresting results Ran Mats_Run.WindowsUpdate ; a MS-Update fix Ran MicrosoftFixit50202; a MS-Fix Ran CCleaner to clean up some mess i left. Used system restore Added MS-Update sites to "Trusted Zone's '' Rebooted after all that, no result :( I don't know what to do anymore, it has been a while since i downloaded updates. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Sorry for my bad English, I'm Dutch ;)Wanna know what will be a good pc to buy? Create your own ;)

Hi, Please check your update logs to find the error. Open the logs under c:\Windows\Logs\CBS, which error do you find? You can also upload the error to us via SkyDrive in a public folder, and give us a link. I use Microsoft Security Essentials as its free for XP and up with no expiry. See my IT site for links. To fix the rest of the problem, insert your Windows DVD and boot from it and select repair when prompted My MVP is for the Windows Desktop Experience, i.e. Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 IT Remote Assistance is available for a fee. Hi, Did you try a System File check? I suspect there could be some system file issue. Please run the SFC.exe firstly before going further. 1. Insert the Windows 7 installation DVD into the DVD-ROM; Click Exist if the auto-menu pops up. 2. Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator. If you're prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow. 3. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER: sfc/scannow After the SFC, try to install the update again to check if still get the same error. If it doesn't work, then upload the logs again. Thanks for your cooperation.
