I have searched the repeatedly and find very little regarding update errors for Win7 and will say I have had NO problems at all until this last batch of updates and system has been up for a few weeks. Suggestions and answers are welcome.

Just found this on another forum... 800736B3 ERROR_SXS_ASSEMBLY_NOT_FOUND The referenced assembly is not installed on your system. Either the update server is not recognizing the existence of WinSxS due to a communication issue or WinSxS is not present or corrupted. The issue *may* be related to antivirus\security software. What is the installed AV and which firewall is being used ? Are you using a proxy server, internet 'anonymizer', cookie or popup blocker ?Hello! I can see I'm not the only one having this issue. But don't see any resolution--so I suspect, as with many things, the solution is "Format and reinstall" (i.e., there ain't one). I've been running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit with no updating issues--until about a week ago. I had a bad SATA controller that prompted some rather unfortunate BSDs and reboots, and since have been getting this error on any Microsoft Update I try to apply--all other system functions seem perfect. This workstation is managed (along with 2 other Windows 7 Pro 64-bit systems that update cleanly) by a WSUS 3.2.7600.226 server hosted on Windows Server Standard 2003 R2 SP2 with nary an issue for over eight months. All are running Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0.6005.562.

I think this error can be resolved by again trying to download the updates. It may probable that the Error Code 800736B3 is given to you, due to the problem in the updates. So, just make use of the new updates and after that try to downloading of it and install it. I think this may resolve your problem. Just make use of it. I think this will resolve your problem.

What do you you do when the "MS troubleshooter" find no problem but you have 12 different updates that fail? One of them being Code 800736B3. My system is very similar to dc_cd.
