Windows Update Error 8024000E
Hi,
I get the following message when checking windows updates.
Windows could not search for new updates
An error occurred while checking for new updates for your computer
Error(s) found:
Code 8024000E Windows update encountered an unknown error.
I am running Windows 7 Pro SP1 x86JamesCCA

Hello,
Try the following:
Run chkdsk /r /f and sfc
/scannow
Download and install Windows Update System Readiness tool for Windows 7
Reset Windows update components
Disable all security softwares
Download and the update manually
If this does not help, I think it will be better to perform a repair install of your OS.

I have done all the steps except the last one. Cant check for updates as it fails with that errorJamesCCA

Hi JamesCCA,
Did you receive any error after run system readiness tool and system file check?
If all the above doesn't work, please upload the update cbs log, which is located in C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\cbs.txt, it could help us find which step failed.
Zip then upload it to your SkyDrive, put it in a public folder, then reply a folder link here. I'll check it later.

This is fixed now.
Probably my fault but it appears Windows 7 was attempting to locate updates provided by my System Admin first, I clicked on check for updates online and it was fine.
