Windows Update Cleanup will not show in disk cleanup

When I run disk cleanup and click the button "Clean up system files", it scans system files, including windows update cleanup

But then, when the window actually opens, that option is not there. I only see the following options:

  • Downloaded Program Files
  • Temporary Internet Files
  • Windows Defender
  • Device driver packages
  • Recycle Bin
  • Temporary Files
  • Thumbnails

This is also the case if I run the application as administrator. This behavior continued after restarting my machine.

Hi,

Please know that the Windows Update Cleanup option is available only when the Disk Cleanup wizard detects Windows updates that you do not need on the computer.

The Windows Update Cleanup option isnt there, if there is nothing to clean up. It's designed by default.

For more details information about this feature, please refer to this article:

Disk Cleanup Wizard add-on lets users delete outdated Windows updates on Windows 7 SP1 or Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1
