Windows Themes
Not sure if this is the correct place to post this one but when I create a personal theme with my personal pictures, everytime i reboot the computer it defaults to the last displayed pic in an unsaved theme and i have to reselect the theme i created, is there anyway i can make this a permanent save?

As a matter of fact, there is. Right-click on the desktop and select Personalize. You should see something like this:Note the "Save Theme" link near the bottom...

Hi, Without saving the theme it should load the last picture you have selected as background when you restart. From your picture i dont see any name related toyour bugatti theme ( as example) try to save the final choice and give it a name. click on that saved theme name and check if windows will active it as current theme. switch user and check if you will still get this saved theme you just made. Nothing will work, scroll down andactivate windows classic. restart and check.check this path if your background picture is there as well. C:\Users\you\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows Photo Viewer

thats just it, i have saved the theme, the theme is called gary and next to the highlighted theme in the picture i provided. When i select the gary theme windows does activate it and everything works well, but when i reboot it's created it's own theme that isn't saved and only has the display picture that was displaying when i rebooted the laptop. If i chose one of the built in themes, say characters or united kingdom (on my windows 7) the themes display properly and the backgrounds do rotate as they should following a reboot, it's just my personal themes that don't stay selected following a reboot

A saved theme should include specific items like desktopbackground, windows colore, sounds and screen saver. If you save a theme gary and later you change the sounds or the windows colore, gary theme will be disabled automaticlly since it has its own items saved and recognized by windows. A modified saved theme should be saved again.

yeah i get that, once i have set the theme i want, i don't change it, i only reboot and it changes itself to a static picture rather than the slideshow i created in the first instance

I have tried slideshow on my windows and its doing perfect. i located pictures in my libraries one time and pictures on other hard drive other time, both worked perfect after restart. try to give your self (as user) more permissions, thatmight help.

Hello gazoco, You might want to go to this address: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb773190.aspx (Creating and Installing Theme Files) for your information. I've created a theme, saved it to my Document (mytheme1.theme) and now it appears with the others into "Appearance and Personalization".It runs fine.

Yeah, slideshow is cool.I'd like to know how to make it work in Vista. Er... Doesn't that screensaver module come with Windows Live Photo Gallery? If so, then installing WLPG on your Vista box should likewise install it there.

I'm having the same problem with RC1.I have saved my own modified theme(called it "Tobias)". Dekstop background is set to "Slide show" (and some various pictures are selected). When I reboot a new theme is created called "Unsaved theme". This new theme has desktop background set to the last used picture in the other theme(my "Tobias theme"). And the setting from "Slide show" is changed to that specific picture.Just a minor bug, makes it impossible to use the slide show thing though.

Figure might be better to add my question to this thread instead of making a new one. What I'm wanting to do is basically use the Aero LAndscape theme but use a batch of pictures I have taken so is this how I would do it.1. Apply the Aero Landscape Theme2. Copy the pic's I want to use to a subfolder of the "C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper\" directory3. R-Click desktop, select personalize, then click on "Desktop Backgrounds" and from there select the pics I want to have rotate on my desktop?
