Windows Sign On

Our small office recently had an employee abruptly leave.  The password that he provided to us for his company Lenovo laptop isn't correct.  I have all the other passwords correct for his email, server access, etc.  It's just when we turn the laptop on we don't have the correct password to access the laptop or anything else.  This employee didn't save his work to the company server so everything is on this company laptop.

Does anyone have any ideas?  Many thanks.

If you cannot access the laptop there is very little you can do other than to get a win 8.1 image and do a repair install.  You may also be able to do a refresh/reset from the advanced boot menu but either of those may cause data loss.  Can we assume you cannot ask the employee what the correct password is?
