Windows Server 2003 password policy not applied to Windows 7 client
Hello, we have the following problem: Our Domain Controller is a Windows Server 2003 machine. Because we have different password requirements for different client computers, there are the following two password policies (directly linked to the domain): PwdPolicy_Default: Scope: Authenticated Users PwdPolicy_Enhanced: Scope: AD group "Pwd_Enhanced" In the "PwdPolicy_Default" GPO the AD group "Pwd_Enhanced" has the following Security settings: Allow "Read"Deny "Apply group policy" I have a Windows 7 computer in the AD group "Pwd_Enhanced", so this computer should get the settings from the group policy "PwdPolicy_Enhanced". If I enter "gpresult /v" in the commandline, it is displayed that the group policy "Pwd_Enhanced" is used and all settings from this group policy are displayed. But when I change the password, the password policy which is actually used is the "PwdPolicy_Default". Does anyone have an idea why this is not working? Thanks, Renate

Hi Renate, First, I would like to check whether all the Windows 7 not apply the settings. If so, it is better to check the setting in server side. Also, you can whether the following thread could help: Windows 7 clients on 2003 domain / group policy http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winserverGP/thread/846e1ccb-c9ba-474f-81ee-7106be104d39/ Regards, Vincent Wang TechNet Community Support

Hello Vincent, the problem appears on all Window 7 computers. Also I already saw the Microsoft link you posted, but it does not solve my problem. Regards, Renate

Hi, Since this issue occurred with all the client side, it may related to the server configuration, you can check the server side settings or post the issue in Windows Server forum for more help. Regards, Vincent Wang TechNet Community Support
