Ok, I have the little X in my bottom right hand corner advising there is 1 pc error to resolve. When I click on the message, the message "Turn on windows security centre service (important)" is displayed (as a link). WHen I click on the click on the link, the message displayed is "WIndows Security Centre Service can't be started"Thanks Shane

Hi, Have you tried the following steps to start this service? 1. Click Start, type Services.msc in Start Search bar, and then press Enter. 2. In the right pane, double-click Security Center. 3. In the Startup type list, click Automatic, click Apply, click Start, and then click OK. 4. Restart the computer. Meanwhile, if this issue occurred recently, it is recommended to try system restore to go back to a previous time point which everything is OK. Hope it helps. Hi Alex, thank you for you assistance. I tried to open services.msc and received the following message One or more ActiveX controls could not be displayed because either 1) Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX Controls on the page, or 2) You have blocked a publisher of one of the controls As a result the page might not display correctly. I will try a system restore Thanks Shane

Hi, I tried system restore, but it wont work as microsoft security centre is turned off. When I tried the services.msc solutiion it gave me the following response : One or more ActiveX controls could not be displayed because either 1) Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX Controls on the page, or 2) You have blocked a publisher of one of the controls I am on windows 7. How to solve this 'microsoft security centre turned off' issue and get my microsoft essentials working as well. Thanks Prabhu
