Windows Security Center does not start
When I start Win 7 RTM Professional, the Windows 7 Action Center says that the Windows Security Center is turned off. Clicking on Turn on Now does not cause anything to happen. I went into Services and tried to start the service - shows as automatic but not started. Got a message box stating "Windows could not start the Security Center on Local Computer." followed by "Error 5: Access is denied". Tried logging using Windows built in Administrator account - same result. Clicking on the OK button does nothing. Hi, Based on my research, we can try the following suggestions to verify Security Center service. 1. Temporarily uninstall third party antivirus program or firewall. Then, please restart the computer and verify Security Center Service again. To verify Security Center service, we can refer to the steps below: ========================= a. Click "Start", type "services.msc" (without quotation marks) in the open box Search Bar, right click services.msc and select "Run as Administrator" (Please click Yes). Note: If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password, or click Continue. b. Right click the "Security Center" service and choose Properties. c. Please click the Start button and see if it works. d. You may also choose Automatic next to Startup type. e. Click OK. 2. Perform a System Restore to back up the system to a state before this issue occurred. Thanks, Novak
