Windows Search keeps adding locations
Windows 7 x64 SP1. We are having an issue w/ Indexing on a users machine. Rebuild option does not work. Registry still shows that search/indexing is complete even after you select rebuild and nothing has been indexed. I uninstalled and re-installed. I changed the location of the indexing (catalog) files. I deleted the contents of the folder while disabling both index and windows search services. Now my question is this - we manually remove all default "included locations" we only want the users documents/ desktop/ and outlook to be indexed. Question - if you manually modify the included locations (i confirmed all location were de-selected) and you add only that which you want indexed - how come when I go to the machine to check the indexing status - does it add location like IE history, and Public Docs/Music/Video... from the public user profile? Thanks, SJ

Hi, Do you want to disable index or Windows search? Based on my understanding, Windows would use index to perform very fast searches of files, but in the Folder Options dialog box, click the Search tab, you could configure the non-indexed search settings.
