Windows Search don't working
Hey guys,I'm using Windows 7 Home Premiun Edition and the Explorer search box just doesn't find anything. I already try restore the index but without results. Troubleshooting gives me the message: Permissões incorretas em diretórios do Windows Search ("Incorrect permissions on windows search directories").

Hi,When did this issue first occur? If recently, system restore should be under consideration. Can you find the folder C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Search\Data\Applications\Windows? If so, right click on the folder->Propertise->Security tab, is "SYSTEM" shown under the "Group or user names"? If not, click "Advances" and add it.If still no go, I suggest reset the permission of the local hard drives.=================================This step will reset the permission settings on this system, which may take us some time, your patience is highly appreciated. 1. Please download the subinacl.msi from the following link and save the installation patch onto the Desktop: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=e8ba3e56-d8fe-4a91-93cf-ed6985e3927b&displaylang=en#AffinityDownloads 2. Please go to the "Desktop" and double click the downloaded file to install it. 3. Please select the "C:\Windows\System32" as the "Destination Folder" during the Installation. Later we will use this tool to rest the permission setting on the current Machine. 4. Click "Start", "Run", type: "notepad C:\reset.cmd" (without quotations) and press "Enter". Choose "Yes" when you are prompted. 5. Copy the following commands and then paste them into the opened Notepad window: @echo off subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE /grant=administrators=fsubinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_CURRENT_USER /grant=administrators=fsubinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT /grant=administrators=fsubinacl /subdirectories %SystemDrive% /grant=administrators=f subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE /grant=system=fsubinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_CURRENT_USER /grant=system=fsubinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT /grant=system=fsubinacl /subdirectories %SystemDrive% /grant=system=f @Echo =========================@Echo Finished. @Echo =========================@pause 6. After you paste the above commands, please close the "Notepad" window. Choose "Yes" when you are prompted to save the file. 7. Click "Start", type: C:\reset.cmd and press "Enter" to run the commands we have pasted. 8. You will see a DOS-like window processing. NOTE: It may take several minutes, please be patient. When it is finished, you will be prompted with the message: "Finished, press any key to continue".After that, check if the search feature works now.

Hey Magon_67,Thanks for the reply. Its all ok, but still not working even after reset the local driver permissions the error message is still there. I have four partitions on the HD (A:Windows 7, B:Users data, C:Windows Vista and G:Program and games) should I change something on this code (apart from the subinacl installation)? And I just realized that there are only 3.290 indexed itens when it should be much more.

When did this issue occur? If recently, system restore can be under consideration.Does the issue exist in Windows Vista?Let us try the following again:Can open the windows by typing "Search option" from start? If so, choose "Restore Defaults".Open Indexing Options from Control Panel,->Advanced Options, on the Troubleshooting section, click "Rebuild" first. If still no go, I would suggest test the issue in a new account.Create a new user account============1. Click the Start Button, and then click Control Panel. 2. Click switch to a Classic View in left panel. 3. Double-click User Accounts.4. Click Manage another account.Note: Please click Continue if the User Account Control (UAC) window prompts. 5. Click "Create a new account".6. Type in the account name and select choose an account type (For Example: Administrator or Standard user). Then, click Create Account. Please let us know the result.

I don't know exactly when it happened and I delete the previous restore points before realizing the problem. I already restore the search options and rebuild the index and the problem is the same in other user account. Search works fine in Vista.

Yes, right click on each folder (Like Music, Videos, etc), properties and in the Local tab then just change the location. I think is better cause if i have to, I can reinstall Windows and don't lost my files.
