Windows Search Not Returning Results While Searching Contents of .Txt Files.
I have index turned on and have enabled searching contents of .txt files. If I create a new txt file I see the # of indexed files jump by one so I know it has been indexed. Now if I search for a word in the new file no results are returned.
Let's say the file contains 'Dog'. I have tried *Dog* and Contents:Dog but no results are returned. What am I doing wrong?
Thankstwahl

Hi,
When you want to search form a word, you should also enable searching contents of .docx files. .txt files is for Text Documents.
If the issue persists, you can try to rebuild the index:
1.
Open Indexing Options by clicking the
Start button
, and then clicking
Control Panel. In the search box, type
indexing options, and then click
Indexing Options.
2.
Click
Advanced. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
3.
In the
Advanced Options dialog box, click the Index Settings tab, and then click
Rebuild. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
Hope that helps.
Regards,
Leo
