Windows Remote Assistance Error
When I try to use windows remote assistance to connect to my mom's computer I get an error message. When I run the troubleshooter I get a error message saying that my computer does not have a public ipv4 address and that remote assistance has restricted my internet connectivity, but when I go to whatismyip I see my public ip address. What can I do to resolve this? Thje same error messages appear on my mom's computer as well. I am running windows 8'1 pro with media center and my mom is running windows 8.1. I have an hp desktop and she has a dell desktop. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I can connect to the internet just fine otherwise.

this is good article to start troubleshoot

try with the basic troubleshoot first, make sure the setting are correct

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-remote-assistance-faq#1TC=windows-8

make sure both of that PC connected to the router

there is some workaround to disable IPV6 at your network card setting, but it will also disable your home group, if you don't have home group then you can do this

you can also try Team Viewer as temporary solution

Hi StarTrekFan78,

"What should I do if I get a message that my computer doesnt have a public IP or IPv4 address?
If youre at home, make sure your router has the Windows logo on it.
If your computer is on an enterprise network, a helper within your local network might be able to connect using your private IP address. Also, your network administrator might have set up Group Policy or a firewall to block connections to your computer. "

We can turn off the firewall and antivirus software temporarily to have a check.
