Windows ONEcare will not download
I have a strange problem. I had Norton installed, then it expired (free vers). I tried to reinstall Windows Onecare and it will not install. The thing is, anytime I downlaod anything, it does not give me the option to "RUN" whatever I am trying to install; rather, it saves it somewhere on C drive and I have a heck of a time finding it, and half the time it will not install. Help. I must have some settings messed up that are preventing the option to "RUN". Pls help! I have Windows XP on an old computer, emachines. thank you.1 person needs an answerI do too

(See "http://onecare.live.com/standard/en-us/default.htm" or "http://onecare.live.com/standard/en-gb/default.htm").Microsoft's replacement for OneCare is the free program, Microsoft Security Essentials. You can download Microsoft Security Essentials from www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/default.aspx.You should never install more than one resident antivirus program on your computer. Consequently, you must uninstall and remove all traces of Norton, before you try to install or use any other AV program.Download the Norton removal tool from:http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20080710133834EN&ln=en_USSave the Norton removal tool to your desktop.Open Control PanelDouble click on Add Remove ProgramsUse the menu to remove NortonRun the Norton Removal ToolThen, you should be able to install replacement security software.

Oops, I meant Windows Defender, the free edition. Or are they the same thing? I finally got AVAST (free) to download, What other protection should I download for my computer besides virus? THANK YOU

If you are using an antivirus, you don't really need anything else. But I use a complete security suite like Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 which has both the antivirus and firewall.
