Windows Live Mail in Win 7
Will new contacts be added to contact list when replying to them? I did NOT place a check mark on the bit about AFTER 3 times that it would. But I am trying to organize my messed up contacts after importing them into Win 7 RC. Seems there were a ton of old contacts with very old email addresses (that I know were deleted many years ago) that were brought into my new Windows Live Mail.My question would be....I am making my contact list in alphabetical order--Last name first. If someone sends me an email using their name with First name first, what is this going to do with MY contact list?I can't seem to find any info about this anywhere. Been all over your website and also thru the HELP in Win Live Mail. Thanks for any help in the matter. Btw, I LOVE Win7 RC thank you sooooooooooooo much

Hi AnneIf you want the addresses of people you often correspond with, you need to check that 3 day option.About the old email addresses, I'm not sure what the specific problem might have caused the old addresses to show up except that some email programs require that you compact the database occasionally to remove the reference to the deleted items.Without testing it, I'm not absolutely sure about the alphabetical ordering of the contacts. I would assume that the new entries would be sorted by the letters in the first name if that is how they arrived.Hope this helps.Thank You for testing Windows 7 Ronnie Vernon MVP

After 62 people viewed my Q....I appreciate your response. <G> I don't want added people in my contact list even after the 3 day option dealy. Having so many in there probably has caused me added problems.I always compacted the database......every time MS told me to. I usually opened my mail program several times an hour so would get to the dreaded 100 quite often. lolIn XP I used people's first names but now in Win 7 RC I am using last names first. I have run into a problem as I have a folder of classmates (for reunions) and I am using maiden names for last names and I put their married names in (.....) in the middle name spot on account of having to double check email addresses from the book I make every 5 years which, of course, goes by maiden names. So, before going any further in my new contact list, guess I should rethink this and start out with First names first.Sheesh, now I don't know what to do. AnnE in MN
