Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x80070057 - PLEASE HELP ME!!!
An unknown error has occurred. Server: 'smtp.talktalk.net' Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x80070057 Protocol: SMTP Port: 25 Secure(SSL): No This message has started appearing since last Wednesday, I have Windows Live Mail on Windows 7. I did a virus scan last Tuesday night and on Wednesday my email stopped sending anything but I can still receive emails. I've tried typing the email address in manually which worked to send 1 email but then its stopped working again!!

has anything changed recently in the network setup? If you log into Windows Live via the web browser, can you send and receive email as normal? The other thing to check is whether your ISP has started applying SMTP filtering - some ISPs do that. As a test, try to telnet over port 25 to smtp.talktalk.net. When I tried it the connection simply timed out, suggesting that it's either limited to a TalkTalk internet account OR there are problems with the ISPs SMTP server...you might need to contact them.

You may have items stuck in your outbox. These will have to be deleted. In my screen the outbox is not visible and you have to scroll down to see it and access it

We were having the same problem. Make sure you are signed into windows live on your email. It is located on the top right of the status bar. This solved our problem.

Had the same problem, could receive but not send. Same error code as mentioned above. For me the answer from zipper11 was the solution, I removed an email (with a picture, still however not big) from the outbox, and then suddenly all the other emails stuck in the outbox were released! Thanks zipper11 !!

I set up Windows Live Mail by phoning BT Broadband (free call) and the technician set it up for me. Pehaps worth contacting BT for a solution. Sorry, I forget the 0800 number, but it should be easy to obtain.

I had the same problem. Im on a fixed ip - no blocked ports, and one day the mail started generating this error. I had a picture of some 900kb in the outbox, not super big or anything. So I tried Fix 1. Delte the outbox file, and retry sending without pic. Result: I was able to send mail again. Then I tried: Fix 2. Sign in to Live Mail, reattach full size image and send. Result: I was able to send the full size image, it appears to publis it to an online album first. Something I'm not use to from being an Outlook user. I am assumming it is part of the "Cloud" experience so people can access the photos online without the mail client. So both fixes work but only one resulted in allowing me to send my image at full size.

I had the problem of Receiving Mail with Windows Live Mail in Windows 7 but not being able to send. Eventually I found the solution:- Recently ISPs have been trying to eliminate spam/ junk e-mails and so they require you to amend your e-mail Account for Authentication. I actioned this by using Tools / Accounts / in your mail account , use 'Properties' / click the 'Servers' Tab/ at the bottom, tick 'My Server requires authentification' This resolved my e-mail sending problem which I hadn't had with my old e-mail on XP and only occured when setting up my Windows Live Mail e-mail in Windows 7. I hope that this helps!
