Windows Installer screen pops up
Every time I open up a new link, the Windows Installer, "preparing to install" pops up. Then a 2nd window opens saying "the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable." Says to "click OK to try again or enter an alternate path to folder containing the installation package 'Search Settings.msi' in the box below. This is what is in the box: C:\DCOUME~1\owner\LOCALS~1\temp\{7141BC4F-6109-429E-99FD-EDE385F5B814}1I have to hit cancel at least 3 times to get rid of the box and to allow the link or program to open. Hope someone out there has an answer for me. Thanks!2 people need an answerI do too

I have the same problem in spades. However, this all began with an attempt to upgrade to MSO 2007 Standard from MSO 2003. Veeeeery painful process which finally got MSO 2007 loaded but NOW this annoying popup continues to haunt me. The machine is virus/malware/spyware free.On Saturday, 8/7. the upgrade saga began. Having exhausted the message boards, forum and FAQs I found a suggestion on how to manually remove all elements of 2003 manually, then an exhaustive deletion of Registry keys followed by reboots and then the MSO 2007 disc offer "Install" in lieu of "Upgrade" - all of this culminating around 3 AM 8/9.Immediately after the Office Suite loaded and I brought up Word, lo and behold, this pop up shows up. Back to the FAQs, Forum and Boards for ideas. So I explored two of them in sequence as recommended - go to C:\Windows\System32\Installer and remove ALL .msi and .msp files - accomplished NOTHING. Then reregister msiexec.exe in Windows Safe mode - accomplished NOTHING.So, here i am back on the boards and the excuse this time around is my system has a virus - laughable!
