Windows Installer for XP (Media Center Edition) - Service Pack 3
Windows installer keeps trying to install a program called 'Unload' at start up - suspected maleware. Have been suggested to reinstall Windows Installer, but which version should I reinstall? (4.5 is the latest but does it work with XP Media Center Edition - Service Pack 3) Have also been instructed to run Windows Installer cleanup. Is this a good idea? 2 people need an answerI do too

Hi dfrancisco, Thank you for taking the time to post. The Windows Installer CleanUp Utility can attempt to remove installation information for programs that were installed using the Windows Installer. If you are not sure about running this tool, create a System Restore before running it. If the Unload program used the Windows Installer then this cleanup utility should be able to remove it. All you do is load the utility then highlight the program and select remove. For more information on the utility and the download, please see the following Microsoft Article. Hi Keith, I don't believe I'm comfortable that the Windows Installer 4.5 works with the XP Media Center Edition - SP3. Could you please confirm? Many thanks
