When trying to add or remove a program in Windows XP, I receive the following error message: The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running Windows in safe mode, or if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed.2 people need an answerI do too

This sometimes works:Open a Run window (Windows key+R), type cmd and press Enter, type msiexec /unregister && msiexec /regserver (note the four spaces) and press Enter. Close the cmd prompt.

where are 4 spaces?

between 'c' and '/', between 'r' and '&', between '&' and 'm', and between 'c' and '/' (put spaces between the bold characters, below; note there isno space between the 2 & characters)msiexec /unregister && msiexec /regserver
