Windows Homegroup
I have two new computers both running Windows 7 64bit. When one connects to the homegroup the other one doesn't say join it says "create homegroup". I don't know what to do and this has been very frustrating as I have spent hours on this problem. I have followed steps in the support area and online and nothings seems to work. It is like they don't see each other. Both are working fine on our wireless network. They also are both printing. I just can't get homegroup to work or figure out how to share files.

Ensure everything is turn on as in network discovery, file and printer sharing, home group connection etc under advanced sharing setting. Also have you try mapping using it's IP?

Hi, Can you access the target Windows 7 machine from another one via Network folder? At this stage, I suggest you try the following steps to troubleshoot the issue. 1. Modify relevant settings on Windows 7 machine. a. Click Start and open Control Panel. b. Open "Network and Sharing Center" and click "Advanced sharing settings". c. Expand the current network profile (such as "Home or Work"), and then select the following options: "Turn on Network Discovery", "Turn on file and printer sharing", "Turn on sharing so anyone with network access can read and write files in the Public folders", "Turn off password protected sharing" 2. Temporarily turn off firewall and antivirus program on the machine, and then try to create a HomeGroup between the two machines. 3. Go to “Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\HomeGroup” and click “Start the HomeGroup troubleshooter” link to check the issue. 4. Please also try the following method: Why can’t I join a homegroup? Thanks, Novak
