See if the behavior persists in safe mode or with a clean boot. Use those techniques to try to systematically eliminate software to determine if it may be involved in the behavior. Remove excess / unnecessary hardware and try to establish system stability. Detach external components such as HDs, remove "extra" RAM, etc. Try to eliminate hardware from consideration. Update your BIOS, etc. Swap hardware with known good hardware with you have it. Test your components with manufacturer diagnostics. It is largely a process of elimination and testing.
