Windows Firewall start up stopping Internet
I recently installed Windows XP home edition 32 bit on a new computer and Updated to service Pack 3. Everything is working fine and is fully activated except for Windows Firewall. Whenever I start the computer the internet does not work for about 5 minutes, at this point a security warning claims Windows Firewall is Off and then turns On at which point the internet will work. The machine meets XP minimum requirements . unfortunately I don't know if this problem is because of SP3 or not as I installed SP2 and SP3 straight away. Thanks for your time

Hi, ·What is the type of internet connection you have?·Is it wired or wireless?·Do you have any security software installed on your computer? 1. This might be an issue with security software setting conflicting the firewall setting. To narrow down on the same disable the security software installed on your computer and then check the results. If the issue does not persist, you may have to check the security software settings. Important: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you shouldn't disable your antivirus software. If you have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you're connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks. 2. Check the behavior by booting the computer in clean boot state. You may refer the below link on how to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" state:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310353If the issue does not persist you may continue with step 2 from the above link.Make sure you reset the computer to normal mode after the installation completes. Refer the section “Steps to configure Windows to use a Normal startup state” Service pack 3 download file will contain all the prerequisites that need to be installed so that should be a problem.
