Windows Firewall, Diagnostic Policy Service, Diagnositic Service Host, Diagnostic System Host not starting
It all started out with me not able to Ping, Dameware, or Remote desktop to either my laptop or desktop since installing windows 7 ultimate, back in Noveber 2009. Both of them are on the network at work. Looking into it further, the services above do not start. BFE was also giving me problems but somehow thru the suggestions on forums I got it to start.I have tried everything and received anything from 'access denied' to 'the account specified for this service is different...', to 'windows could not start windows firewall on local computer', depending on whose suggestion I took. I have tried my best to follow suggestions found on the internet. However there are so many different ones that I probably messed the whole thing up, I have a headache and I don't want to rebuild even though my system people said it's the best. I have changed registry entries , changed policies, deleted this, deleted that, ATI update, Directx update, restored my policies from templates. WOW... and all I want to do is work from home. They said it would be easy. Oh yea I bet.I can't believe that Microsoft does not have a solid resolution for this for as many problems I see out here. I have to believe that it is with my version of Windows 7 Ultimate that I have installed on both of my systems. I try a repair and get 'nothing to repair'. No one in the office is having this issue but me. Now if someone says 'could you send me detail', I will have to say just do a search on 'Diagnostic Policy Service' access denied and the details you are finding there are the same I'm having. I'm a developer unfortunately, not a systems person.Help, Help, Help it's going to take me days to rebuild and I hate to give up like that.PFINFRO

System components may be lost. This issue can be caused by incorrect behavior when scanning virus. You may launch your Windows 7 installation program, and run In-place Upgrade to repair the system. Your personal data and programs will not be removed during repair. However I still suggest that you backup important data before backup.Arthur Xie - MSFT
