Windows Fax and Logging Off
Trying to set the office up to be paperless. Using a Windows 7 Pro workstation with fax modem, I have it configured to receive faxes. As long as the computer is in use, ie, someone logged in, it receives fine. If you log out, PC still on just sitting at the log in screen, it stops receiving faxes. Does that mean that if I want to receive faxes, that workstation is required to remain logged in 24/7? Is there no way to configure it to just run as a background service while logged out, similar to NT server Fax Services? This is a Windows Workgroup with no server. Thanks

This is a personal workstation, not a fax server. This is default behaviour. Use Windows 2008 R2 server instead or third party solution. There are universal printers with fax fuctionality (in addition to scan, copy, print, etc) Regards Milos
