Windows Explorer jumps to parent folder of UNC when accessing through VPN
When using Windows 7 Windows Explorer to access an UNC on the far end of a VPN connection, Explorer will sometimes spontaneously jump one or more parent folder levels. The issue is sporadic and difficult to replicate. Thoughts: is this a network timeout problem? Perhaps during a connection loss, Windows Explorer's behavior is to assume the folder is disconnected and fall back to the parent? Is there a way to stop this annoying behavior?

Hi, I would like to verify whether this issue only occurred when using VPN? Whether this issue happened when accessing network location? Whether other Windows 7 get the same result? I suggest you try to connect it without VPN to check the result first, and try to use another computer for test. Regards, Vincent Wang TechNet Community Support

I don't have access to another Windows 7 system. This is a remote location. I have no choice but to connect to it via VPN. Please just help me instead of asking questions that will let you blame something else other than Windows 7. What would be great is a registry setting for Windows Explorer that says, "never leave your current location."
