Windows Explorer has Stopped Working
The ONLY time I get this message is when I left OR right click on a printer in printers/faxes. It happens immediately. I even created a desktop shortcut to the printers, and it errors out there as well. Tried system file check, no luck. Here is the event

Oh I remember this one from the good ol' XP days. This was one of those more frustating generic exception codes that could be just about anything. I saw it more recently when a very odd printer port configuration was used and deleting that port fixed the
issue.
The link below relates to XP and is very old, but it might give you some ideas for where to look

Also, it may be useful to try to capture a user-mode dump of the explorer.exe crash to get more information on the crash.
You can configure Windows to create user-mode dumps. Create a System Restore Point first.
If you copy and paste the following in Notepad and save as a .reg file, then right-click the .reg file and select "Merge" to add to the registry, a .dmp file at the time explorer.exe crashes should be created in the C:\CrashDumps folder:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\LocalDumps\explorer.exe]
"DumpFolder"=hex(2):43,00,3a,00,5c,00,43,00,72,00,61,00,73,00,68,00,44,00,75,\
00,6d,00,70,00,73,00,00,00
After Explorer (explorer.exe) crashes, can you then make the .dmp file available (provide link) via Windows Live SkyDrive or similar site?
The following link has information on using Windows Live SkyDrive:

The dump file did reference several Windows files such as the ntdll.dll, ieframe.dll and the fdprint.dll.
I suspect the problem could be Avast shell extensions such as was suggested here.
What I would suggest is to use ShellExView to disable Avast extensions and see if the issue resolves.
The following link has some info and a download to ShellExView which you can use to selectively disable third party shell extensions to find out a problematic one:
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/slowrightclick.htm
Try disabling the Avast extensions and if still have issue try disabling all non-Microsoft extensions.
Also, since there appears to be an older version of Avast installed consider uninstalling Avast and install a newer version or go with other security software such as Microsoft Security Essentials.
