Windows Explorer doesn't start?
Hi there ;) Well, I think I have a somewhat peculiar problem. When I start windows, the welcome screen shows up, then it goes black, my "Documents" folder shows up but then nothing happens. I press Ctrl+Alt+Del and I can see that explorer.exe isn't running. So I ckick Run, type in "explorer" and it starts, along with the rest of the "boot" process, meaning it starts all my programs and etc... So, I have a lazy windows xD Can anyone guess the problem?

There's a registry key that tells Windows what "shell" to load on startup. Open regtedit, and look for the key here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon Make sure that the shell key is set to be explorer.exe. It's weird, but I've seen it happen. Added by Forum Moderator: Warning: While this solution solves the issue or problem, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall the operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk. Thanks for the answer ;) Well, I have indeed explorer.exe but not also. In the field there is written: explorer.exe csrcs.exe Should it be only explorer.exe?

It should only have explorer.exe. The extra value csrcs.exe is what's causing explorer not to start. Delete csrcs.exe.Csrcs.exe may be a virus.http://www.articlesbase.com/security-articles/how-to-remove-csrcsexe-945040.html

Yes, you should remove the csrcs.exe from that value. To remove it, double click the 'Shell' value in the right side pane. Remove that entry and just leave the Explorer.exe entry.Like Mr Seven stated, this is a possible virus. Make sure that you run a complete system scan with your anti virus program.Thank You for testing Windows 7 Ronnie Vernon MVP
