Windows Explorer crashes when I start up my computer...
This has been happening for a while now. I've went into the Event Viewer. I found several errors one that tells me that the system failed to create a restore point. But the error that I think is causing the problem is this "Faulting module name: DesktopDock64.dll version 1.0.1.0 time stamp 0x4c9256c9". I found this in the fences software that came with my computer. I was wondering if there was a way to fix this problem. Or maybe the problem is the failing to create a restore point. Does anybody know how to fix these errors? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You could go to Safe mode and try to returned to previous restore point. Not sure, but Internet Explorer forum seems to be more appropriate for this problem. Rgds Milos

Did it and did it, and it's not an internet problem, it's a software problem. Specifically when the computer boots up and tries to load the fences onto the desktop.

Hi, Did the issue occur in Safe Mode? Generally, the Windows Explorer crashing is affected by third party software. Please try the following suggestion. Download ShellExView v1.41 from the following link http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.zip Please Note: The third-party product discussed here is manufactured by a company that is independent of Microsoft. We make no warranty, implied or otherwise, regarding this product's performance or reliability. Right-click the "shexview.zip" file, select "Extract All", the Extraction Wizard will prompt. Click Next, input "C:\ShellExView" (without the quotation marks) in the "Files will be extracted to this directory" textbox. Click Next and click Finnish. Open the "C:\ShellExView" folder and double-click the "shexview.exe" file. It will scan the registry for all the shell extensions. Select all the non-Microsoft extensions in pink by press "Ctrl" in the keyboard. Click the "Disable Selected Items" on the toolbar and click Yes. Restart your computer and check if the issue is resolved.Niki Han TechNet Community Support
