Windows Explorer Save As changes filename
Windows 7 Ultimate Version 6.1 (Build 7601 Service Pack 1) Windows Explorer problem 1. When I chose "Save As..." after a download, say, Windows Explorer captures the filename of the file to be saved and starts at the last used folder. 2. I select a different folder, say Documents, from the list on the left. 3. I select a folder, say Downloads, from the file and folder listing on the right 4. If there is a file now underneath the cursor, the filename of the file to save is changed to that name, and the original filename is lost. 5. It often takes several attempts to select the folder and quickly move the mouse cursor off the right pane to prevent it picking up a filename from the list. How can I prevent this behaviour? It is so inconvenient! In previous version, I had to select a file from the list on the right for the filename to change. Now it happens just with the mouse cursor hovering over the name! Thanks you Ross Davidson

Hi, Please check the mouse's left button. It seems like it is a hardware issue. I have never experienced the same situation. Also, you may launch IE with No add-ons Mode to eliminate 3rd party cause. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.

I have started re-introducing the addons and will let you know which, if any, I find responsible for this. Good call! Thanks Ross
