Windows Enterprise License Conversion
I have an MSDN subscription license with my company that I use for my development group. I received a Windows 7 Enterprise CD and installed it on my personal laptop to trial Windows 7. I do not want to use my MSDN subscription to activate Windows 7 on my personal laptop. Before installing Windows 7 Enterprise I had purchased Windows Vista Ultimate and was running it on my personal laptop. What is the best way to get Windows 7 Ultimate installed on my personal laptop? Should I purchase Windows 7 Ultimate or an upgrade version of it. If I purchase the Windows 7 Ultimate upgrade (if one exists) do I need to remove Windows 7 Enterprise and then install Windows Vista Ultimate and then do the upgrade?

Yes, there is an upgrade version and it costs about U$100,00 less than full version. Look here: http://store.microsoft.com/microsoft/Windows-7-Ultimate-Upgrade/product/592F5AF5 The upgrade version will require your vista installed and activated in you computer. After this confirmation, he will continue the setup and will not require you a CD key. If it can not find you Vista installed, the setup will not continue. After this step you will have the chance to execute an in-place upgrade, keeping your settings and software, or to format your disk and do a fresh install, but vista must be installed in this begin. Careful about some limitations: It is not possible to upgrade a 32 bits to 64 bits; I don`t think you can activate your Enterprise installation with a Ultimate Key. Regardless it is pretty the same OS, the only difference is only de licensing method. Hope i heplped.

You can upgrade from Vista Ultimate to Windows 7 Ultimate. Use an upgrade version for an in-place upgrade (preserving program installations) or a full version (where you can do more things, as you don't need a Vista base - it's more expensive, however). Your Windows 7 Enterprise trial version is a trial, nothing else, not upgradable and not convertible into a "real" version. And yes, you should remove it before upgrading/installing anything."I think there is a world market for maybe five computers. (Thomas J. Watson, Sr.)

Hi, It is cheaper if you purchase an upgrade version of Windows 7 Ultimate. But the full version of Windows 7 Ultimate can save the time for Windows 7 installation. You need to remove Windows 7 Enterprise and reinstall Windows Vista Ultimate before upgrading to Windows 7 Ultimate. Windows 7 Enterprise cannot upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate. You must have a previous OS such as vista ultimate installed to perform an upgrade which must be done from that desktop.
