Hello Everyone,EverytimeItern on my computer, I get the following message from the system trey:"The Windows Defender is not on, Click here to tern it on". When I click on the belloon, nothing happens. I also checked settings from the Alert Centre, everything seems to work fine from there. I also ran windows Defender manually, it works fine. Anyone else having same problem? I know that Windows Defender should tern on automatically when I start my computer. If Windows Defender doesnt run in the background, my PC does not get realtime protection.Any Suggestions?

My sug is get norton 360! You get it free till the beta over and its been working for me great! All tho windows defender seems to be working fine for me but i belive its disable now do to me insalling norton 360! So best off just getting a program thats free but note this is windows 7 so not all programs work with it! Because do to windows 7 being in beta i belive micosoft provides no support for us accept on this forums by users!

Same issue here. Only notification, Windows Defender is running anyway. None security software installed.

I get the same notification with Windows Defender also. And I also get one for Avira AntiVir Free. Both programs are working flawlessly but get that nitification. I think it has something to do with when the updater component for each program and when it starts up. I removed Avira AntiVir and disabled Windows Defender. Then installed Avast and get no notification. I wish someone that knew more concerning this issue would come up with a fix?PCBill

also refused option of anti virus for time being. changing no settings sometimes defender off, sometimes on, no apparent reason.final crash today.see other posts made by me this hour

This also happens to me. i"m running no AV and once in a while the defender says its not turned on..I stare at it for a bit and then it i guess turns it's self on and goes away. I chualk it up as a bug since it was happening on a both of my clean installs

Hi, Fry, Yep, thats the answer! the computer is switching everything on and gives the warning just before defender kicks into action.:D

Nope, It was fine for a while now I have to switch on every boot and I am so dazzled by the vastness of it all I have no idea how to fix things, I just work around it.
