I have no idea what "the ones listed 1 thru' 4 [sic]" means because you didn't reference any source. Without knowing what you've already tried, the first step is to ensure that your computer is completely virus/malware-free:http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_MalwareIf the computer is clean, uninstall Windows Defender. I don't recommend it anyway under XP. I believe it is better to run the free version ofMalwareBytes' Anti-Malware manually on a regular basis, making sure you update its definitions first. You may also have an antivirus installed which has its own antimalware component and which disables Windows Defender. In that case, uninstall WD and use the other program's feature. What antivirus/security program do you have installed?MS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!

I removed McAfee from my computer and I still get the same message mentioned above (Windows Defender__Application failed to initialize:0x800106ba. A problem caused this program's service to stop.
