Windows Defender - Scan Emails
I noticed that here is an option in Defender to have it scan emails. Questoion zero is, does defender scan inbound and/or outbound emails?Question one is, what type of emails will Defender scan, POP3?, WLive? Question two is, in case Defender really scans emails, isemail scanning by anti-virus programs obsolete?

Okay lets see if we can work this out. :)Question 0. From what i see in hte options of Defender it will scan downloaded files and attachments. Which would mean that it would only scan incoming email to your computer. Under Advanced it confirms this."Scan for malicious or unwanted software in teh contents or attachments of email"So that confirms my feelings that it only scans incomgin not outgoing email.Question 1. It is not listed. But depending on what types of email you use and which program it should scan them all.Question 2. Defender is mainly for Anti-Spyware measures and not to be used as a Anti-Virus measure. Email scanning by your AV is still recommended. ~Alex T.~Windows Desktop Experience MVP~
