Windows Backup will not remove an invalid backup location
I am having an issue with Windows Backup for Windows 7 (64bit, ultimate) that is driving me mad. It was working like a charm to a network shared drive and then I started getting the error code 0x81000039. Hasn't worked since. I have reformatted the network shared drive the strange thing is that without me doing anything the name of the old mapped folder appears back on the newly formatted drive. I have disconnected the drive from the computer being backed up but when I start up back up and restore it still shows that old network file location as a choice for backup. So I choose a different path, it starts backing up, and then I get the same error code. I had installed VLC player on the computer with the drive that was holding the backup and it appears to have associated the .bin file with the VLC player. So I uninstalled that but still no luck. I have tried the GPEDIT fix I saw somewhere on these forums but still no luck. Is there a registry setting somewhere that is populating that network share in to the backup choices? At this point, any help at all is appreciated! TIA M

Hi, Please let me know if you can back up files on your local computer. Can you access the network shared driver via UNC? I suggest updating your network adapter driver first. Also, make sure you have full control of the network shared driver. If the issue persists, please help me collect Backup log from %windir%\Logs\WindowsBackup Best Regards, Niki Please remember to click "Mark as Answer" on the post that helps you, and to click "Unmark as Answer" if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
