Windows Backup misreporting status
I just tried the new Windows Backup program today and found it to be extremely easy to use. My problem with it, is that it's reporting that my backup did not complete successfully, when, as far as I can tell, it backed up just fine. What's going on here is that I let Windows back up my computer using system defaults. Using defaults means that all Libraries are backed up. One of the libraries that I created includes two folders on my D drive. When backing up to drive D, these two folders in the library weren't backed up (a smart move if you ask me - the data's already on drive D, it doesn't need to be backed up to drive D). The problem is that Windows is now reporting failure for my Backup - specifically "Your last backup did not complete successfully. Your files have not been backed up."This is more of a discussion on why, when following what it says in the wizard (it won't back up files already located on the backup device), would Backup report failure?

Thanks for trying out Windows Backup. We are flagging this failure just to bring to your notice that the folders in the library you included in backup are not getting backed up. In case you delete the folders or lost it some how, you cannot restore from backup. We felt it is important to let users know about this instead of silently skipping the folders from backup. The only shortcoming in the approach we have taken is that there is no easy way for you to suppress this notification. We are aware of this issue and will try to address it in our future release. Thanks,Sriram [MSFT]
