Windows Backup Ignoring Exclusions
I have a very strange problem with Windows Backup. It seems to ignore my exlusions.I have exluded 2 folders on my data partions, these folder are: Download and Mediaserver. When i run a backup it finishes with two errors:0x80070002 - The system cannot find the file specified.0x80070003 - The system cannot find the path specified. Both errors are files or paths whitin the download folder which should not be backed up in the first place.Going through the content of the backup shows that there is no Download folder what so ever but there is a Mediaserver folder with all it's content. So I get an error on something what should not and is not backed up (Download folder)A directory is backed up which should not (Mediaserver)

Hi Remco, I would like to suggest you start Services.msc, restart Windows Backup and Volume Shadow Copy services. After that, you may test the issue in Clean Boot. If the issue persists in Clean Boot, I also would like to suggest you create a new user account to check the result. Regards,Arthur Li - MSFT

The clean boot resulted in the two errors being gone. The download directory is excluded from the backup. The Mediaserver directory however still persists. Excluded a new directory and ran backup again. The new exclusion is also not excluded. Created a new backup user ran backup again, same result. The backup is not user depended as all of my backup settings where already on the new user. So sadly i still got the ignoring the exclusion list problem.

I'm still testing now, but i think you pushed me in the right direction. At first i did not think the articles where applying to my problem but then it hit me! I had the Mediaserver folder in my Library, so although i excluded it from my data partition it was included through the Libraries. I will let you know how the result is, but i have high hopes since this makes perfect sense :) So thank you very much!! Somethimes complicated problems have such a simple solution :) I'm kinda ashemed that i bothered u guys with this problem.
