Windows Advanced Firewall
Hi All, We are planning to disable the Windows firewall completely in all the Windows 7 PC's. We have stopped and disabled the Firewall Service. But when we check the status of "Netsh advfirewall show mode" we can see it is showing online. We run the command set mode offline and make it offline. After some time when we run Show mode again it again shows as online. We have tried to run "Netsh advfirewall set all state off" but it says that firewall service is off so cannot run the command. Please let me know how to permanently set the advfirewall mode to Offline and how to prevent it from coming online again Thanks

Hi, In Windows 7, you may run "netsh advfirewall show allprofiles" to check the state, I don't find the command "netsh advfirewall show mode" In the meantime, you may do these operations below to turn off Windwos firewall. 1. type "services.msc" and press Enter, find "Windows Firewall" 2.right click "Windows Firewall", select properties, change the Start type to "manual" or "disabled", and press "stop" botton to stop this service. 3.click the third tab that named Recovery, to change the first and second failure action, select "Take No Action". Hi Ivan, Thanks for the reply. The Command "netsh advfirewall show mode" cannot be run directly but you have to run it like netsh, then advfirewall and then show mode. I am not able to understand what this command do. Thanks,

Hi, The result is "online" after I run "netsh advfirewall>show mode" on my computer. Do you change the action after first and second failure? I think if we disable the firewall servcie, it will be offline.Ivan-Liu TechNet Community Support
